Boxing!

Feb. 28

At Verona, N.Y. (Showtime): J'Leon Love vs. Vladine Biosse, 10 rounds, super middleweights; Badou Jack vs. Derek Edwards, 10 rounds, super middleweights; Chris Pearson vs. Lanardo Tyner, 8 rounds, middleweights; Luis Arias vs. Dashon Johnson, 8 rounds, super middleweights; Ronald Gavril vs. Cameron Allen, 8 rounds, junior featherweights; Omontunde Tabiti vs. Dorian Hatcher, 4 rounds, cruiserweights; Ladarius Miller vs. Douglas Rosales, 4 rounds, welterweights; John Franklin vs. Jesus Bayron, 8 rounds, junior featherweights

Good luck to Willie Monroe, Jr., tonight. Willie is a first class gentleman, outside the ring.

I will be at ringside at Verona, with my son Darren. The greatest fighter of this era -- Floyd Mayweather, Jr. -- will be there. It doesn't get any better than that, for this old pug.

... WHERE are the young heavyweight prospects?

Seems like since the Tyson/Lewis/Holyfield era, that division has really dried up.

good prospect, Deontay Wilder. And there are a few guys with potential. But the heavyweight division isn't what it used to be.

I think part of it is the huge differences in size. Guys like my son (6' and 205 lbs) shouldn't be considered in the same weight class as guys who are 6' 7" and 265 lbs.

Teddy and I were leaning toward the Lithuanian, but the viewers on Facebook and, best of all, the judges saw it differently.

But now he has to go up against that tough-looking Ukrainian! A similar, but tougher and better skilled, opponent. At least he'll have the home-ring advantage!

one who can give this Ukranian trouble. Willie has the foot-work and hand speed to win, though he is clearly the underdog.

My son and I met Floyd. It was amazing.

that I'm standing there, looking this man in the eye, thanking him for all that he does or the sport ....just what an elite fighter he really is. Now, I'm an old man, and even I had him autograph a cover of The Ring magazine featuring a painting of him.
