Luis Suárez Bites an Opponent, Again
Liverpool striker Luis Suárez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during their Premier League game on Sunday, the latest shocking on-field decision for a player who has made a career out of them.
The incident came midway through the second half of a game that ended in a 2-2 tie, and it capped an eventful day for Suárez, who assisted wonderfully on Daniel Sturridges tying goal early in the second half; earned a yellow card for a handball that gave Chelsea a penalty and a 2-1 lead; bit Ivanovic; and then scored the winner equalizer on what amounted to the final touch of the game.
It was quite a day, even if it could be Suárezs last at Liverpool. The Football Association will investigate the biting allegation, and a ban of any length will probably cover the Reds final few games. Neither manager Chelseas Rafa Benitez, who received a warm welcome at Anfield on Sunday in respect for his once managing Liverpool to the European Cup, and Brendan Rodgers, who leads the Reds now offered a comment on the biting charge immediately after the game, saying they had not reviewed it, but others were quick to offer their opinions.

In November 2010, Suárez then playing for Ajax Amsterdam was suspended for seven games for biting PSV Eindhovens Otman Bakkal during a Dutch league game.

(488 posts)According to BBC, Liverpool FC said they will fine him but not remove him from the team because, well, he scores a lot of goals and winning is better than not being a psychotic thug.

Interestingly, Liverpool FC is owned by one Fenway Sports Group. Yes, the same Fenway Sports Group that is based out of Boston. Yes, the same Boston who rightly reacted against the senseless violence at the Boston Marathon.
I guess if there's money to be made off of it, obscene violence is just fine and dandy in the eyes of the Fenway Sports Group.
