Just saw 1921 Tulsa Race Riot called Tulsa Race Massacre. Is this new name becoming common? (Original Post) bobbieinok Aug 2019 OP
Has it not ALWAYS been likewise referred to as the Greenwood Massacre of 1921? hlthe2b Aug 2019 #1

I went K-12 to Tulsa public schools (HS grad 57). NEVER once was it mentioned in school.

(A black colleague in the 90s when I said I'd just heard about it once---just loooooked at me and said 'We in the black community in Tulsa have always known about it.' )

My grandma, who ran a boarding house, told me once when I was in grade school about helping at the time her black cleaning lady and family.

One brother told me a bit ago that our dad (b in Tulsa in 08) remembered as a kid hearing people running down the alley behind their house. It was in walking distance of downtown.

They only began calling it the Greenwood Massacre about 2012, when after years and years they admitted it was white folks rioting. That name isn't 'sticking' because there are still lots of Klansmen who liked the original brand.
