Related: About this forumInteresting excerpt from Sanders' statement on Nevada
Helpfully pointed out by DUer 1StrongBlackMan:
From Sanders' statement:
Party leaders in Nevada, for example, claim that the Sanders campaign has a penchant for violence. That is nonsense. Our campaign has held giant rallies all across this country, including in high-crime areas, and there have been zero reports of violence.
Can anyone give any clarity on what Sanders might mean with that phrase? It comes across as tone-deaf as his early campaign. Perhaps I've got it wrong?
This is my first post in this group, but I've read a lot here.

OP
What does campaigning in "high crime areas" have to do with Bernie fan violence at the convention?

(31,780 posts)1. No idea
We have some Sanders supporters that are regular members - hopefully they can weigh in with some examples of where his rallies have taken place.

(4,311 posts)3. Difficult to say, isn't it?
Yet it was part of his statement on Nevada.

(22,765 posts)5. Sounds like a deflection and an obfuscation to me.

That part stuck out to me too. I also wondered what that had to do with fan's violent threats.

And more than a little dog-whistley.

High-crime area = black areas.
We weren't supposed to get that.
Seems he hasn't learned from his poor reaction to the "Black Lives Matter" protests.

and now called "The Piano District".
