Huh. I also Lounge'd this, but: an early AA appearance in classic Bollywood: Dam Maro Dam

(There is a pretty deep history of African American jazz artists in golden age Bollywood movies, but that's a separate story)

Here's the 1970 classic Dam Maro Dam.



Zeenat Aman, the lady lip-synching, is, if you will pardon the expression, YES PLEASE.

This was an important movie in that this dance scene included black dancers and source musicians (in theory the guy with the guitar is playing the guitar for the song, hence "source" musician). There had been white extras before but as far as I've traced back these are the first AA Bollywood extras after about WWII (they were rather common during the war, but quickly forgotten after that).
