I have been incredibly disappointed by some of the things that have been posted here recently especially some of the things posted in reference to African Americans.

That disappointment is compounded by the fact that too many DUers seem to be perfectly willing to justify or excuse the things that have been posted. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I can only assume that people are so caught up in the partisan fight that they can't bring themselves to take a step back, remove their candidate supporter hats, and look critically at some of the things that are being said.

I think that it would be a mistake for me to wade into the primaries and start overturning juries or doing anything that might look like a partisan power play, because then the discussion is about me rather than about the content of what is being posted. But I want to be clear that the admins are aware of what is going on, we do not like it, and we have a number of ideas -- in the medium-term and the long-term -- that we believe will make a difference.

I love DSB. I truly love that man.

I don't think that anyone in this group is surprised by the amount of garbage that's being posted here, including the high fiving and propping up of the incredibly small number of wacked out black and "black" folks that seem to be actively and openly PARTICIPATING in this bullshit. The Internet brings out the worst in people, everyone knows this. This is why just about every article on race on every news site has to close its comments section.

What has truly been the only thing that's surprising to me is the fact that the admins have done nothing about it. Hopefully that is about to change.

Admins should have come in with AT LEAST an alert stalking policy. That could have been consistently applied and not seen as benefiting one candidate's group or the other.

But the fact is that he never said anything acknowledging racial issues - only that the partisan battle is getting ugly offering that up to explain the targeting of AA Forum members.

I don't know what to think. It doesn't really matter since there has been no action. It was my hope that the 'leaders' would at least recognize the *real* problem and do something about it.

I understand Skinner's concern about appearing to take sides, but there are times when there is only one right side and those with the power to do so need to speak up - otherwise, the false "balance" serves only to prop up and encourage despicable behavior.

I urge Skinner to stand up to the ugliness on his site and not allow the worst elements we've seen here to continue to thrive in the name of a well-intentioned, but misguided quest for "fairness."
