I do believe that there are many racists posting here, and I assume they are motivated by the need to have their feelings validated...multiple alerts and favorable jury decisions "prove" they are right...and pointed out to us in case we missed it. Can't lay any guilt on someone who is right, yanno.

During my self-imposed timeout, I thought about it a lot in terms of motivation, and I came to the conclusion that it was likely not a matter of motivation but simply white obliviousness.

The poster was not only spectacularly obtuse in his comments, he was also completely unaware that he had invited himself into a room where he would be unwelcome. I doubt that it ever occurred to him in his white privilege bubble, that he could not invade any space and toss his pearls of wisdom upon the great unlearned.

I am really not sure which is harder to deal with.
