I have somehow found myself checking out a Diablo 12 gauge pistol and have a question...

Does this thing have a problem with shotgun short barrel lengths, or is it considered a pistol so can have 6" barrel?

(At any rate, I'm not sure it's all that useful, but it is fascinating.)

I got to hold a very old (circa 1900) pistol shotgun - 410. It was designed for farmers who needed to carry something in their tractor, or out in the field, to protect them from poisonous snakes (generally rattle snakes). At least that's what my great-great uncle who owned it told me why he got such a thing.

You can even have it mailed to you.

You have to load it with primer and shot yourself just like the old days.

Edited to add: You do not need an FFL to get this gun. It can be mailed direct to your door.

There is some overpowder wads before the shot, I have a friend who swears by muzzleloaders, not sure why he likes them, they are really a pain in the butt.

He puts the overwads in wrong. Thicker overpowder wad first over the powder. The thinner overshot wad goes in second over the shot.

If you decide to pull the trigger and get this gun, watch some other videos on loading muzzleloaders to get the hang of it.

Have fun!

all armed, I'm thinking of buying a pistol. The guy on the video mentioned buying online. Is it possible to buy a pistol online and have it shipped to my door?

They are not that easy to load and only two shots. But they do not require anything more than buying and shipping to your door.

Lots of things are needed for this type of gun. Primers, Powder, overpowder wads, overshot wads, and shot (various kinds of shot available). This pistol, when properly loaded has a good kick and can be quite a bit to handle as it is a 12 gauge.

Here is the company page for this gun.

https://americanguncraft.com/product/diablo-break-open-blued-finish-12-gauge-pistol-rosewood-grip/

It has good information and a video. No license or FFL required, you can order direct and ship to your door. This is the only type of pistol that can do this. All other conventional pistols require a license and FFL dealer. You have to pass a background check as well.

The advantage of a conventional pistol is ease of loading and multi shot capability. Either way you go, please take some lessons. They are fairly inexpensive and teach basic handling and safety.

is the range. This 12 gauge is a short range weapon due to barrel length.

Basically, you purchase a gun from an online gun dealer and have the gun transferred to an local FFL licensed dealer.

Once your gun arrives at your local FFL, you go to pick it up and fill out all the paperwork and get the background check. After completion, you walk out with your gun. Check your states laws on gun sales for any differences. I am in Texas so it is pretty easy.

FFL transfer is usually between $25 and $50 per transaction. They will not ship directly to your door, it has to go to a licensed FFL so they can do the NICS check.

At 7 yards, the buckshot had like a four foot spread. I guess if you Stay 10 yards away and turn sideways, you pretty much Might be able to avoid it completely.

Not what I would consider a great self-defense firearm.

He did not properly load the overpowder wad and overshot wad, that reduced the power and spread.

Properly loaded he would have had better results. But to be truthful, this is a very short barrel and accuracy and spread is only good for about 10 yards at best. This is a close range weapon due to barrel length.

Too long to be a pistol and it has unrifled bore.
Not shouldered to be a rifle (short-barreled or otherwise)
Not considered NFA AOW apparently.

It's just a general firearm and governed under general firearms rules.
