Woman's handgun sends her assailant running

A 22-year-old woman sent her assailant running on Sunday night when she flashed her handgun, according to Oregon City Police.

The woman had just parked her car near the intersection of 8th and John Quincy Adams streets around 10:21 p.m. Sunday when a stranger approached her from behind, grabbed her hair and dragged her backwards, police said. She was assaulted until she pointed her legally-owned handgun at the man and he fled on foot.

Several Oregon City Police officers and a Gladstone K-9 officer responded and searched for the suspect, but were unable to locate him in the area. Oregon City Police are currently investigating.

Police said the suspect is described as a male in his late 20s, approximately 5-foot-8-inches tall with a slender build. He had medium length hair down to his chin and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a brown zip-up jacket or hoodie with dark colored pants.

Guns make you less safe? Not always.

There's a radio interview with her here: http://www.kxl.com/04/12/13/Woman-Who-Pulls-Gun-On-Attacker-Speaks-t/landing.html?blockID=677137&feedID=10446

I just listened to the interview. It should work.

On edit: It does. You have to go to the page and then click on the player below the article. It's some right-wing talk show host, apparently.

How she should not be allowed to carry a dangerous weapon like that in the streets? How the bad guy will just take away her gun and use it against her? How guns are never the answer? How she's much more likely to be killed at home by her boyfriend than to ever need a gun to defend herself?

Every time anyone posts anything that implies that firearms aren't worse than the plague, nuclear war and boy bands all together, the inevitable response is "NRA TALKING POINTS! NRA TALKING POINTS!".

Several of those things you posted, sarcastically I assumed, could similarly labeled Mayors Against Illegal Guns (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bloomberg Inc) talking points as well.
