The next time someone advocates for "common sense" gun laws...

...ask them if their "common sense" would be the same "common sense" as Tim Huelskamps "common sense":

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/apr/1/the-war-on-marriage-and-motherhood/

In defiance of biology, nature and common sense, the administration argues that children need neither a father nor a mother and that having two fathers or two mothers or more is just as good as having one of each.

They have rhetorical flourishes -- you can set a timer for the word "Manichean" to appear in this thread shortly -- but in the wake of the strewn bodies, and the vast public support for common sense gun safety laws, that's really all they have.

Make the agenda something along the lines of:

"Why we're oppressed by others doing things we don't like. Also, "Why do they stubbornly refuse to be
guilt-tripped by us?"

like seeing gunfuckers use their guns to mow down other people by the dozens!

Crazy, right?

What a bunch of non-sensical freaks!

I'd imagine Tim Huelskamp says similar things when he thinks the 'wrong' people aren't
listening...

In any event, gun prohibitionists and anti-equality types seem to share a somewhat older mindset:

"Gandhi sought to practice non-violence and truth in all situations, and advocated that others do the same"

You might want to try a little of that sometime!

While your arguments are often well expressed (despite being rather wordy), there are many who will not address pro-gun arguments but prefer to dismiss them. They call these measures " common sense reforms" so that they can cast off disagreement as nonsense without being bothered to show why. Until there can be some admission by both sides that we ALL want to see crime rates go down and we ALL want kids to be safe at school, there won't be any progress on this issue.

And your attempt to use the genetic fallacy, is weak at best- I doubt you'll express any
quibbles about sources to Alternet, whose link to Huelskamp's idiocy:

http://www.alternet.org/dumbest-gop-op-ed-year-so-far

got me started on this. Or the other DUer who quoted him:

http://sync.democraticunderground.com/1052342

"A Kansas congressman (Tim Huelskamp) writes the dumbest anti-gay marriage op-ed ever"

Primary sources, for fair or foul.

friendly iconoclast: Wrong group- this isn't the gun control echo chamber.

Huh? this group is 'Gun Control & RKBA', so guncontrol is as much the subject as RKBA, but your OP has nothing to do with either, that is my complaint which I lodge again.
You post an unrelated OP & link which have nothing whatsoever to do with guns or guncontrol, & try to make it appear there's some special relationship between common sense & guncontrol or rkba & marriage & motherhood.
If I were to start a thread comparing spring gardening with RKBA it would be similar stretched reasoning.

Your OP: The next time someone advocates for "common sense" gun laws. ...ask them if their "common sense" would be the same "common sense" as Tim Huelskamps "common sense.

Not a word I saw about guns, firearms, or rkba.

Edit: Oh fer cripes, what's the point with the crusades? (as I just saw the picture & tracks after replying). Are you into irrelevancy of a sudden?
