I rescued an old chihuahua terrier standing in the middle of the road

He was standing smack dab in the middle of our county road so I slowed, stopped, opened the door and in he hopped, panting away. I gave him a drink and estimated how far the cup of water he drank would take him, how far away he'd traveled. It took a couple stops but I found his home nearby and they were very happy to get the cute dog home. He went wandering, lost his way by being 8 inches tall and having cataracts, so flagged me down for a drink and a ride home. Cute little guy and it made me happy to have a good ending to "little dog in the middle of the road" story.

After the last week, I need good stories and wanted to share.

Very glad to have found his home again also. I guess being partly blind and only 8 inches tall, it is easy to wander off and get lost.

Thank you. Random acts of kindness make this world a better place.

Do you know how many people would have just kept driving? So, again, thank you much for helping him get home.

All the time, not just after last week although that was one of the worst.

Thanks.

I'm sure the family is very thankful, and you have a new four legged friend now, who knows you were kind and helped him out.

On behalf of animal lovers everywhere, thank you for being so kind.

You made that little one's family very happy.

When our big dogs leave our mowed area and head into the woods, we can see and hear them for a pretty good distance, maybe a few hundred feet even with everything in full leaf. The little one can literally disappear in less than ten feet in some areas. We always worry that she'll start following her nose and get lost or make it to a road.

I didn't get to meet the owners: I brought the dog to a local vet so they could look up the tag the next day at town hall. The vet gave the dog back. Sweet dog. Obviously well loved. I just felt bad that we couldn't call the owners that afternoon: It had no readable tags. It only had the below-the-skin marker, and that reveals only a data base number, not a name. They had to worry all night that the dog was dead. Nothing I could do. So I never found out how far from home he was.
