3. sweeties!!

chickens make great pets.. but if you are planning to eat them don't get to know their cute and hopeful personalities even when they are grownup.. or it will be too sad

4. i have chickens now.

i just offed 2 roosters, but haven't eaten them yet. i had no problem with them, but roosters are sort of assholes. easier.
i call all my hens sybil. maybe i could give this batch another name.
i love them. they make me quite happy. but i never forget they are food.
i love my cherry tree, too.

5. I couldn't enjoy eating an animal I knew...wouldn't even have tobe a pet.

But, when you live in that kind of life...you get used to it and realize that's why you had the animals in the first place...food!

6. to me it is about

i have such a tiny piece of land. i am sure most farmers would laugh their heads off at the idea that i am a farmer. it is just part of what i have to be able to do to wear that label, i think.
and if i can't raise and animal and then eat it, i shouldn't eat animals.
it will be a celebration.
