Ow, springtime soreness

Yesterday I shoveled mulch. Today I sieved compost and planted 120 flowers along the front path. I can’t quite decide if I’m too old for this or if all this exercise is good for keeping an old lady in shape. I need a hot bath with Epsom salts, assuming I can ever get out of this chair again.

But the rejuvenation of Spring is so invigorating, isn't it?

We are stuck in our house, but I can go outside and pull weeds and look up to my two dogwood trees in bloom, azaleas just opening up along with the rhodies. Daffodils are finished, but the iris are just beginning to pop. Somehow, it has been a reminder that life goes on - although sometimes a little bit more painfully.

Take care of yourself and enjoy the fruits of your labors.

knowing what will happen later that night. My toes and feet curl inwards and my legs twist and bend at the knees. I can usually just grit my teeth and endure the pain in silence but sometimes it's pretty bad and I wake up my wife who'll massage my legs which gives some comfort until the cramps go away.

I keep telling myself to stop buying plants, but I just can't seem to stop. I'm trying to reduce my lawn as much as possible and replacing it with natives or regional plants. But my yard is my refuge in this world gone wrong.

Peace
