put them in the refrigerator until they get really cold,
and pig out!

At least that's what I do.

Why did I have to see this? I don't have any graham crackers in the house!

7. My mother hated cooking and it showed.

My dad traveled during the week, so she was pretty much able to suit herself. I ate condensed chicken noodle soup and peanut butter sandwiches. I did not complain about this. Neither did she.

Peanut butter is one of my favorite things. I've made noodle sauces, dairy substitute, dips, stuffings, and all sorts of things out of it and I use it when I make chili. I still prefer it on bread, all by itself.

I will always be grateful to George Washington Carver, the black scientist who came up with it. While his work on preventing soil depletion was probably more important. it's not that way to me. He gave me one of my favorite things and probably the biggest reason I didn't starve to death as a kid with a mother who hated to cook.

Mom used to fix it for an after-school snack.

Celery sticks.

Fill with peanut butter.

Dot with raisins.

Works surprisingly well together.

nostalgically,
