Using toaster oven, because it's too hot to crank up the oven

Because it's been so hot and humid lately, I'm trying to utilize my toaster oven more often. I made some homemade pesto and decided to bake pesto parmesan scones in the toaster oven. They turned out great. Because my toaster oven seems to cook faster, I lowered the suggested temperature and also baked them for less time. My experiment worked and the scones are delicious!

Apologies for the pan, but hey, that's what it looks like!

Because the recipe made sixteen, I individually wrapped them and placed in the freezer for later use!

We got use to using the toaster oven, so we haven’t fixed the gas oven.

Coffee maker, toaster, hot plate, rice cooker, an air fryer that is a decent convection oven.... if it creates heat it is used outside.

past 40 years or so, simply don't heat up a kitchen the way I recall from my childhood in the 1950s and '60s.

Especially if you have a/c.

ever since I moved to the desert. A few years ago, I bought a solar oven to supplement it so I could bake bread and roast the occasional chicken. They're both great, and I no longer fear power outages. Much.

I even hated using the oven in Boston summers, which were mercifully a lot briefer than the ones here. One of my favorite easy meals was a slice of sourdough rye bread, thin slices of veggies, Swiss or jack cheese, and a sprinkle of dill and summer savory. Yum.

Back in the bad old days before microwaves, it was the only way to go.

I’m a half decent baker, but my scones turn out like lead weights. What’s your secret?

I have a bumper crop of basil and made some pesto so I was looking for recipes to use up some more pesto!

Try the recipe on the link that I provided. Maybe you'll get lucky!

Every one I've tried is a crap toaster and a poor oven.
I would love to have an oven about 1/4 the size of one of my wall ovens that worked and was insulated.

You could fry eggs on top of every toaster oven I've tried.
