Anyone got a source for Black Mustard Seeds?

I checked Penzys first, but I am not seeing the Black Mustard Seeds there.

I got a vegan Indian cookbook last week & the British author listed that as one of the 10 essential spices. After a bit of google research, I can sub my powdered mustard, but I'd like to try an ounce of the seeds w/o a big $ investment.

Thanks

THe price is reasonable, too.

My favorite, go-to for Indian spices is Shanti's Spice Box on Amazon. It's a little pricey, but it includes 30 different spices, everything you could ever need, individually packaged and labeled in zip loc bags. They've even got things you never knew you needed but the recipe just wouldn't be the same without it.

On edit: Here are the spices included in the box:

Black mustard seeds, cinnamon sticks, coriander seeds, coriander powder, cumin seeds, cumin powder, dried red chile peppers, chile pepper powder, dried fenugreek herb, fenugreek seeds, paprika, turmeric, ajwain, black cumin seeds, fennel seeds, fennel powder, mango powder, tamarind, asafetida, dried pomegranate seeds, pomegranate powder, black salt powder, cardamom seeds, cardamom powder, chile pepper flakes, cloves, nigella seeds, white pepper powder, white poppy seeds.

From their website.
"Black mustard seeds have a well deserved reputation for their pungent spicy aroma and flavor. Most common in Indian cooking black mustard seeds are often fried in oil, making them sweet and mild while releasing a nutty aroma. This is frequently done in an Indian wok called a kadai."

Black Mustard Seeds give a pleasantly biting flavor and are often used in dijon mustards and whole seed deli mustards. We like to use them in curries, lentil soups, roasted vegetables and sautéed potato dishes. We especially like to use them as a secret ingredient in spice blends.

Flavor Profile
Belonging to the same family as wasabi and horseradish, black mustard seeds have a similar spicy component called "isothiocyanate".

and cayenne pepper with whole blackened, dried chile peppers, and whole cumin, fenugreek, and black mustard seeds. It's absolutely addictive. The black mustard seeds are really crucial to any recipe that calls for them. Glad I could help!

is that they pop when heated, so toast them in a pan with a lid. Unless you like having tiny black seeds all over your kitchen.

I used to get them in bulk at my local supermarket - they were just sold as mustard seed, but they were black. When you grind them they look like ordinary yellow powdered mustard. I've found Amazon an acceptable (modulo their politics and other behavior) for bulk spices.
