I found about 2 dozen good sized Morel mushrooms again yesterday, saturday, so that is what is going to be on our plate for dinner this evening.
Lightly floured a little salt and pepper then fried slowly in butter. A treat to die for.
Luckily I have good cholesterol numbers so I can get by with it.
Baby back pork ribs to go with them with some of my wifes excellent potato salad thrown in for good measure
Am I a lucky man or what?

Too cool to eat on the deck so it's cook out/eat in. Our son is visiting for the day so it's steaks, grill potatoes, grilled garlic bread and coleslaw. Now to the eternal question of getting my meat well done (DH grills) as he and our boy like their steaks still mooing and I do not.

Hello DU, I am a new member posting my virginal post. Referred by my blonde bride, who has been here for years.

Tonight we are making one of my old family favorites, one with southern & German heritages combined. Not that I'm southern, but my father loved this recipe as a kid, I did too, and now my 29 yr. old daughter makes it for her family.

Barbecued Noodles & Hot Dogs
Despite the title it's really a tomato based bbq style sauce served over noodles, with cut up pieces of high quality old fashioned frankfurters.

The sauce is killer, pretty simple ingredients, and it will sure to be a once a month family favorite.

Barbecued Noodles & Hot Dogs

Ingredients:
1 onion chopped
2 15oz. cans of Tomato Sauce
½ cup Brown Sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon of red wine vinegar (white vinegar will do)
Juice of ½ of a lemon
1 tsp. of mustard
1 tsp. of Worcestershire
4-6 hot dogs cut into ¾” pieces
1 package of Golden Grain Egg Noodles

1. In a saucepan sweat chopped onion until translucent.
2. Add tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, & Worcestershire. Sauce won’t taste exactly right until after simmering.

3. Simmer uncovered on medium heat for approx. 45 min.
4. Add sliced hot dogs & simmer another 15-20 minutes uncovered.

5. In a separate pan Boil egg noodles until done then drain.

6. I have found it best to add the sauce to the noodles to achieve your desired sauce-to-noodles ratio.

Enjoy!

I can't figure out what the white is on the beet/orange salad, though.

Welcome to Cooking/Baking, LeftSide. The dinner thread is a good spot to pick up new ideas.

We had curried butternut squash and chicken chorizo sausages (very spicy). Slow cooked and they had a caramelized exterior.

Red wine. Chocolate bars for dessert.

feta may have worked in smaller chunks. There was a red wine vinaigrette in the bulgur and orange/beet combo. The chevre was pretty mild.
