It's an experiment. I'm making a sauce with leftover fresh and smoked kielbasa. I'll probably use some cabbage, onions and green peppers, along with a can of crushed tomatoes and some red wine. Hope it turns out okay--it's for our monthly pot luck dinner.

Very hearty. I added red & white wine. Unfortunately only a couple people showed up. So I have a ton of leftovers. Which is a good thing. May have to freeze some of it.

spaghetti sauce with hot smoked sausage (sliced into 1/4 inch rounds) in place of ground meat. It's one of my son's absolute favorites!

Not very inspiring.....apparently I caught a cold. I haven't had a cold in years. Just in time for the weather to warm up - finally.

I was drooling over some heirloom tomato, basil and cheese ravioli at the store the other day. Making homemade ravioli was on my to-do list for last winter, but I never got around to experimenting.

Hope you feel better soon! I usually grab zinc and something with a little heat if I feel a cold coming on. Usually knocks it out before it gets started.

The leek and potato soup was too thick and not very interesting. I think I will put it through a fine strainer and add some stock.

I've got some leftover glazed chicken (also not all that good) that I may make into something.

On the bright side, I made a spicy pineapple salsa that was really good and should be even better today.

Running low on supplies here.

I use mostly chicken broth and add a little goats milk at the end. Pineapple salsa sounds scrumptious. I have a fresh one ripening on the counter.

They had very thin skins, but just made it a cloggy mess when I pureed.

Anyway, the pineapple salsa had red peppers, jalapeño, red onion and cilantro. Great combo.

You need to cut the potatoes in much smaller pieces if you plan to puree them with the skins on. The salsa sounds lip-smacking! I could go for that in a big way.

I thought it was a good basic soup recipe, but then I used my own chicken stock and also some vegetable stock from my stash in the freezer. On the first round, I used lots of fresh, chopped basil on top.

On the second round, I added the milk and oh!--this was divine--crispy fried prosciutto. Topped with parmesan cheese and added a little creme fraiche. Mixed chopped herbs for topping, like thyme and basil and a little rosemary. That was last night when I arrived home late. It was so nice to have hot soup after a long, full day of teaching.

I showered the salmon with tons of fresh dill tonight, and each stick of sweet potato oven-fries had a nice pressing of rosemary. Your soup sounds delicious.

Most of the canned stuff is just watery. I've been using "Better than Bullion", but I'm not convinced it's much better.

But when I make a batch, it's definitely better.

And then again, I can't think of any dish that hasn't shown improvement by adding prosciutto, parmesan cheese or creme fraiche, lol.

Maybe it'll be edible if I turn it into pot roast. Cooking the bejesus out of it should make it tender.

Tonight I am having a fried pork chop, baked potato and the rest of the broccoli in Swiss cheese sauce.

Yum! That was good. Dredged it in cornstarch, a bit of flour, salt and pepper.

The butcher shop gave me a really big half of ham for Easter so using it up is the deal this week. The ham bone is going to end up as a big pot of split pea soup for the weekend.
