(29,503 posts)On a side note, this morning on the subway platform, I was waiting for the train, minding my own business. I saw two guys chatting and laughing to my left. There's a big delay, and the platform is relatively crowded.
Anyway, the train pulls up and they give each other a big ole kiss just like here. I was shocked, because my neighborhood is full of homophobic young people from places like Pennsylvania and South Carolina and such, who don't mind letting it all hang out when it comes to THEM and their heterosexuality, but definitely are closer, in mindset, to their villages than they are to New York when it comes to being either liberal or simply cool with regard to gay people.
It was quite refreshing. I think I actually smiled at them as I got on the train.
