by the number of people on that thread that were basically saying cruelty is okay. I think this quote in post #79 sums it up:

Ducks are livestock. They're not humans and we don't have to care about their feelings.

All living things ( I don't really know about plants) have emotions. I work with animals all the time and I'm here to tell you that they all feel all kinds of things.

I try not to kill anything anymore. I have mice that come in from the cold. I wish they weren't there but I refuse to kill them. My house is big enough for all of us

A lot of birds are really smart. I don't know about ducks being smart - or geese or chickens or turkeys - but that is a moot point. They all feel fear.

I cannot stand when people who are cruel to animals bring out their anthropomorphism claims. It is they who have no feelings or emotions.

People like that make me sick.
