Kent Trumpets Canada's Environmental Record; $10 Mil In Aid (Of $1.2 Billion Already Committed To)

Ed. - Are you fucking kidding me? Is this a joke?

EDIT

Environment Minister Peter Kent announced a $10-million contribution to reduce what are called “short-lived climate pollutants.” The Climate and Clean Air Coalition, a consortium of 30 counties plus the EU, will distribute the money.

Kent said Canada was the “first out of the gate” to deliver such financing. The money, however, comes from Canada’s $1.2-billion contribution to the so-called fast track financing agreed to in Copenhagen in 2010. The financing is designed to help developing countries reduce their emissions, mitigate the effects of climate change and convert to a clean energy.

EDIT

The environment minister was in Washington to meet with the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, which represents 17 countries. The group is gathering to work on a new post-2020 international climate change agreement.

Kent denied that his $10-million announcement had anything to do with bolstering Canada’s environmental image during the ongoing Keystone debate. “It’s a coincidence,” he said. “It’s a pleasant coincidence.”
