Woman injured in grain elevator explosion

LEXINGTON - A woman was injured Wednesday in a grain elevator explosion at Dawson Feeders, Inc., northeast of Lexington.

The Lexington Volunteer Fire was called to the scene about 10:30 a.m. There was no fire when firefighters arrived, but the roof had collapsed, said Chief Dahlas Holbein.

Take a four inch cardboard tube, three or four feet long, and put a burning candle on the floor, then the tube over that.

Sprinkle some flour into the top of the tube and see what happens.

Boom!

Grain elevator fires/explosions are not uncommon.
