Coronavirus latest: Brazil logs most cases in single day to date

Brazil has reported over 26,000 new coronavirus cases within a single day, bringing the total to over 438,000. In Europe, several countries have announced plans to end lockdowns. Follow DW for the latest.

05:15 Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said some areas of the country's economy will require additional stimulus. Australia's government and central bank has already pledged to spend AU$250 billion ($166.1 billion, €149.8 billion) to avoid a longterm depression due to the pandemic.

04:45 China plans to extend a ban on international flights until June 30, the US embassy in Beijing said in a travel advisory.

The country has drastically reduced international flights since March, with the implementation of the so-called "Five One" policy, which allows foreign airlines to operate just one flight a week to China, and mainland carriers to conduct one flight per week on one route to any country.

China has reported over 84,000 cases of the virus, with a death toll of 4,638.

03:55 The number of confirmed cases in Germany has increased by 741 to 180,458 in the last 24 hours, Germany’s infectious diseases agency announced. The Robert Koch Institute also announced 39 new deaths, bringing the total death count to 8,450.

or risk getting shot down by the president's army and police if they try too hard to protest in the streets.

I think we are starting to head in that direction, too. If Trump gets re-elected, I am certain we'll find out, ourselves!

Trump and Bolsonaro are kindred monsters.
