Another big lie against Venezuela. ABC.es uses pictures of Egyptian violence and says Venezuela

.

Egypt photo used by ABC.es as if it was taken Venezuela

SIBC - Another lie against Venezuela. A correspondent for ABC, Ludmila Vinogradoff, used a photo of Egypt protests and attributed it to a supposed "crackdown on opposition demonstrations," which in reality was a wave of violence unleashed against the revolutionaries on Monday April 15, after the presidential elections had been held.

Vinogradoff crudely manipulated reality. She used the image in a post on her blog in a post titled "The Venezuelan Commotion" and subtitled "Ma-Fascism pure and hard" (Fascismo Puro y Ma-duro&quot .

The column read: "The repression of opposition protests over the alleged fraud in April 14's presidential results unfortunately has left a trail of death and destruction, injuries and arrests in major cities of Venezuela over the last four days" .

However, instead of 'illustrating' the events in the Venezuelan capital with corresponding pictures, she accompanied her ideas with a well known photo of the repression of Egyptian protests, where soldiers assault a woman who is on the ground.

The image is repeated throughout the column also including photos showing, supposedly, "the result of clashes in the last four days." The publication was later removed from the blog of journalist.

To make sure readers connected the famous Egyptian photo to Venezuela, this is how she repeated it on her blog, right under another picture clearly from Venezuela

On Friday, she apologized for her own manipulation with this flimsy excuse: "Here we rectify and apologize for the publication of photographs in our article" Fascism pure and simple ", where many of them do not correspond to the date, country and circumstances of the Venezuelan reality. It was a mistake not having checked the context before publishing. "

The attacks by the followers of the defeated opponent Henrique Capriles left a lamentable eight dead and more than 100 seriously injured, several health centers and Socialist Party headquarters burned, business destroyed, 17 vehicles torched.

None of that violence however resonated with ABC.

She has since removed the images and the entire entry from her column. You get a "page not found" now.

But she's still at it, carrying water for the right.

Another absolute fail for ABC. Too many of us remember those pictures well I'm sure someone will be along shortly to explain that it was easy for journalists to get confused since women in Venezuela wear blue bras also.

1. And another one from ABC.es

Allegedly a member of an armed Chavista group, published on April 19 on ABC.es
Un supuesto miembro de un grupo armado chavista, publicado el 19 abril de 2013 en abc.es

The caption above reads, "A Chavista infiltrator disguised as an opposition (Capriles) supporter so they can say the opposition is violent. Look what he has in his hand!"

However, big fail again, the picture was taken from a September 2012 article "Members of Primero Justicia armed with pistols against Hugo Chavez sympathizers" (Pistoleros miembros de Primero Justicia arremeten contra simpatizantes de Hugo Chávez)

I recognized that blue bra immediately. I was shocked to see it used in that article. That ran on ABC?

She's been carrying water for the rightwing though it's possible she didn't know but damn, media with integrity checks these things. And after people complained and told her, she still kept it up for days. There's absolutely NO excuse for using that picture because it's one of the best known pictures of the Egyptian uprising.

The right is also using pictures from Chechnya. First they spread them on blogs then when they figure the lie has enough legs, they contact all the journalists they can think of. Their tweets to Dianne Sawyer, Anderson Cooper etc have been priceless. I guess they don't know how easy it is to find out where pictures really came from.

They really take their readers for complete idiots.

And then, just remove the page and pretend it never existed, nothing ever happened.

The right-wing in Venezuela has shown its true colors and their hatred for the working class and social progress. And their clowns in the press like mrs. Vinogradoff are getting exposed for what they are.

She proudly tweeted this photo.

She's got a ton of charming articles

"The return of Chavez isbitter," May 2001
"Chavez is prepared to use rifles to defend his power", November 2011
"Chavez threatens state of emergency to curb unemployment,"
"Ex-Venezuelan foreign ministers accuse Chavez of protecting the guerrillas," December 2001,
"A colonel in Venezuela demands Chavez be replaced by a civilian", Feb. 2002.

Her twitter is really something to behold, like this tweet from February "Rumor, Chavez is returning and will resign"

Ludmila Vinogradoff ?@ludmilavino 13 Feb

Rumor: Chávez regresa y renuncia | El bochinche venezolano http://abcblogs.abc.es/bochinche-venezolano/2013/02/13/rumor-chavez-regresa-y-renuncia/

Mon Apr 22, 2013, 12:30 PM

And credited them as such. Now this has spread to video but there is no credit. The commentary makes one think the video is about A when it's really about B.

It has always been necessary to take the "news" with a grain of salt but anymore it requires more salt than is healthy.

19. Eh, I tend to avoid reactionary BS like the OP.
Mon Apr 22, 2013, 10:21 PM
Apr 2013

The OP doesn't actually care about Venezuelan violence against women or anyone really.

It's relatively easy to find these sorts of actions.

It's also relatively easy to find someone on either side making up pure falsehoods to pursue their agenda. I am quite familiar with that propaganda tactic.

Why bother with an OP that is about distractions and deflections and ignoring the realities that are going on in Venezuela? Indeed, this is the same poster who for a week wanted everyone to think that Venezuela was descending into chaos, now they're doing apologia for the violent police state?
