CELAC calls (on the losing party) to accept the election results of April 14

STATEMENT

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) congratulates the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the peaceful and participatory elections in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Sunday April 14, 2013.

The CELAC congratulates President Nicolas Maduro for the results achieved in the election and his election as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Community urges all parties involved in the elections to respect the official results emanating from the National Electoral Council (CNE), the only authority competent on Venezuelan matters, we call upon (the losing party) to cease the attitude of violence or threatening the social peace and to focus on dialogue, and tolerance for the sake of stability of the country and for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.

At the same time, CELAC firmly believes that any claim, question or request for extraordinary procedure emanating from any of the participants in the electoral process must be conducted and resolved within the existing legal framework in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and within the democratic spirit.

The CELAC extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of violence on 15 April and solidarity with those who were injured.

La Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC) felicita al pueblo de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela por la realización pacífica y participativa de elecciones presidenciales en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela el domingo 14 de abril de 2013.

La CELAC saluda al presidente Nicolás Maduro por los resultados alcanzados en los comicios y por su elección como presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela.

La Comunidad, al instar a todos los sectores participantes en las elecciones a respetar los resultados oficiales emanados del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE), única autoridad venezolana competente en la materia, hace un llamado a deponer toda actitud de violencia o que ponga en riesgo la paz social, y a privilegiar el diálogo, y la tolerancia en aras de la estabilidad del país y en beneficio del pueblo venezolano.

Al propio tiempo, la CELAC considera con firmeza que todo reclamo, cuestionamiento o solicitud de procedimiento extraordinario que emane de alguno de los participantes en el proceso electoral, deberá canalizarse y resolverse dentro del ordenamiento jurídico vigente en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela y en el marco del espíritu democrático.

La CELAC extiende sus más sentida condolencias a los familiares de las víctimas de la violencia el pasado 15 de abril y su solidaridad con quienes resultaron heridos.
