Oh ye neoliberals of poor sight, how many housing units has The US government built in the last 23 months. You'd think that at a time when banks are tossing people, families, out of their homes, we would have built a ton by now.
Oh that's right, I forgot, the US poor can live in tunnels as you bob and weave telling a government that's actually housing its citizens, that they're doing a bad job. The Venezuelan pueblo hears your greedy boots coming and they're not interested.
And to make things even more obscene, you won't even let them live in the tunnels. Off on the streets to freeze to death with them. And you have the nerve to treat the Venezuelan poor as ignorants.

(160,219 posts)I was just thinking before seeing this story that people in other countries have NO IDEA whatsoever just how painful life is for so many US Americans, because that information is ALSO suppressed.
Meanwhile, popular media ALL portray typical US American life as being vastly different from life as it is experienced by an enormous part of this population. You recall hearing during the US depression, the movies, etc. all portrayed only stories with heiresses and debutants and their wealthy boyfriends, enormous homes, expensive clothes for everyone, yadda yadda yadda.
Strange moral messages being sent, aren't they?
We've heard distantly from time to time of people living in subway tunnels, too, but that story has always been kept completely quiet, also, and news media often bust their butts trying to find the occasional street hustler who isn't REALLY as poor as he or she pretends to be, to help people desensitize themselves to the very idea of the "poor," as in the "poor" are simply lazy, and sloppy people who don't have enough goodness in them to work hard like the exploiters do!
