Capriles thugs burn down woman's home because she's a Chavez/Maduro supporter

No words.

Any minute now some asshole will show up to stress that somehow exposing such crimes is interfering with Capriles' birthright or that there were x number of home fires last year so no big deal- pouring perfume on a turd and expecting people to admire its rose scent. Again, no words.

Keep your cameras on the cover protests where everyone is holding hands while your goons do their dirty work.

And count on collaborators to keep people looking anywhere but where your goons are. Anything, anything will do.

The only people born yesterday are the ones expecting everyone else to buy their lame script.

Additionally, Foreign Minister Elias Jaua disclosed more details on these armed mercenaries which, he explained, originate from right wing groups in El Salvador.

Specifically, he claimed, the mercenaries are connected Francisco Chávez Abarca; to the retired Colonel of the El Salvador Armed Forces, David Koch Arana; to Guillermo Cader Acuña; and to Roberto d’Aubuisson. These men have connections with the US backed death squads which murdered thousands during the brutal Salvadorian dictatorship, and links also with Luis Posada Carriles, the international terrorist currently in hiding in the USA.

but seriously, are they really that stupid, to think they could paint this guy as a 'progressive' with his history?

If they had simply accepted the results of the election and not done this, at least he might have earned a little respect. But he's finished now, the truth, although it is tragic it has to happen this way, is now beyond doubt.

Has he called for an end to the violence btw?

If the people who did this were finally arrested their slimy worthless parents would simply get them out, anyway, spreading some money or influence around. No one will suffer but their helpless victims. It's a free vacation, a blank check to terrorize the people for these filthy clowns.

Poor, poor Mercedes. Jesus H. Christ.

since their earlier schemes and plots and dirty crimes blew up in their faces.

The kids tell you everything you need to know about how decent the parents are.

They aren't going to make the people of Venezuela want to hand the country back to them any time in their lifetimes.

I'm sure glad to hear they've been exposed. Hope a lot of noise will be made about this to make sure everyone realizes what has happened and who the #### is behind it.

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals recently decided an asylum case related to the changing political conditions in Venezuela. The 8th Circuit denied the asylum claim of Ninoska Lopez-Amador. Lopez-Amador was a relatively wealthy mid-level executive for a phone company in Venezuela.

She came from a politically active family that is opposed to the government of Hugo Chavez. Lopez-Amador is also a lesbian and claimed that she would likely face persecution if returned to Venezuela because of her sexual orientation.

...

These new arguments were also to no avail, as the 8th Circuit agreed with the BIA that Lopez-Amador would not likely face persecution if she was returned to Venezuela. They held that loss of her passport and being forced to sell her second condominium did not rise to the level of persecution.

Here's her whole case here. Her condo, her condo, she had to sell her second condo!

I was thinking how odd it is she heard a gunshot and concluded Chavez supporters were shooting at her.

Yeah, right. So typical, after all we've heard by now.

Unbelievable people. They'll do anything to advance their interests. She uses her sexuality to try to take a kick at the people of Venezuela's choice of President who does NOT have a record of abuse of LGBTs.

The old "face prosecution if returned to Venezuela" bit gets old, too. Luis Posada Carriles, the mass murdering airline bomber/former CIA, former head of Venezuelan secret police under Carlos Andres Perez claimed he, too, would be prosecuted, and TORTURED if he was extradited to Venezuela to stand trial. He forgot to mention he's terrified some of the living former prisoners HE TORTURED are still walking around in Venezuela who might want to see him.

So many right-wing idiot scums, and they all work to grab the world away from the citizens who live there.

Horrible.

Catherina has been making a huge favor for all of us on DU, sharing an important number of information and solid evidences of this criminal attempt against democracy in Venezuela, including the thread about phone calls proving they are aware that they lost, whose video she brought to my attention.

Thanks again, Catherina.

South of the border or what Kerry just reiterated as the US' backyard where they need to act "vigorously".

Everyone of these lackeys is my enemy because they don't care how many people they kill, how many orphans they create, as long as they can give support to more deadly US intervention in the region.

A few years ago, they would have been backing Reagan and his death squad buddy Rios Mont and viciously lying about Jacobo Arbenz.

Over 250,000 Mayan men, women and children were slaughtered. Several times more than that displaced. And people here have the fucking nerve to back more of that shit. Thank God Latin America has a longer memory span than the last election. US intentions, buried under lies like "free press" "democracy" aren't fooling anyone, not anymore than Capriles' lackeys are.

She burnt her own home down for propaganda upon the promise that the government would give her a condo! I read a tweet about it from a staunch progressive who used to live in Venezuela and knows this stuff! Any anti-Capriles reporting is government propaganda designed to brainwash those filthy stupid poors.

I wish to see my country free . I have a different point of view , I guess, from many people here. Capriles is not the one who has political prisoners like former General Medina who has been in a hunger strike for almost two weeks now. For what I see in the news, and by family report Capriles is calling for peace and for transparency. I see pictures and post here praising Maduro and I wonder what is it that people see in Maduro? That he was named by Chavez as his successor violating the Venezuelan Constitution? Yes, it was an election on April 14th, but for what I know, when you have dead people " voting" ,and so many other irregularities, those are not legitimate elections, at least from my point of view. It is funny how people here praise Maduro every time that he say something , but my oh my, I wish you could spend a week in Venezuela living like one of us, making long lines to buy food, not knowing when , and if, you will have water or electricity, or living almost like a prisoner because you are afraid of going out and get kidnapped or killed. Sad... the situation in Venezuela is sad . Having an illiterate as president, who barely knows how to talk, who doesn't even know his own country's geography, who is just there as the brothers Castro's puppet, it is very sad. At least in my own opinion.

You're not going to be able undermine the real DU'ers here, real progressives by claiming they "live among the elite," after all.

She also has never supported the candidate of the elite who's their front in their attempt to steal back the government in order to destroy the progressive gains made already by Hugo Chavez' and Maduro's administration, and the peoples' effort to this point.

You can attack DU'ers here as long as you stay, but we know what you're trying to do, and no one sane would buy it.

I am completing my internship-unpaid- at a homeless shelter. Some days I struggle to pay for my gas to travel more than 40 miles each way to complete my hours at a place where I think I am needed: Among homeless women suffering from mental health , listening to them, and many times just letting them know that there is someone who cares for them. I was taught to give and this is my way of giving. Rich fascist? My father, worked long hours to be able to buy his house and a small piece of land. He worked that land, long hours , so he could send us to school. Nothing was given to him; everything was earned. He lived in a free land and I want to see Venezuela free as it was when he was alive. And you know what? I am also grateful to have received a nice education as I learned that even if people don't agree with me , or my ideas , I still don't have the right to label, insult, diminish, etc.etc.
