Bone remains of Chilean poet Neruda to be analyzed in US seeking clues about his death

Bone remains of Chilean poet Neruda to be analyzed in US seeking clues about his death
By The Associated Press April 12, 2013 3:20 PM

SANTIAGO, Chile - Bone remains of Chilean Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda will be analyzed in the United States as investigators seek to resolve a four-decade mystery about his death.

Neruda's body was exhumed this week in an effort to discover if he died from prostate cancer or if he was poisoned by agents of Gen. Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.

The judge in charge of the case is Mario Carroza and he says that some skeletal remains will be sent to a laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.

Carroza said Friday he will receive a preliminary report about tests in Chile on April 22.

Short article, no more at link.

(The U.S. supported the right-wing monster/dictator Augusto Pinochet at every step of the way throughout his murderous years in control in Chile. Why would the current Chilean President Pinera, who was a Pinochet supporter, allow this man's remains to be examined in the U.S., if he wishes to retain any credibility whatsoever?)

The Prez I'm sure has nothing to say about it and no power over what happens, unlike in some other countries I could name.

Would you like them sent someplace else? Had anyone asked that they be sent someplace else? I would think that it Pinera was in control of this that he never would have allowed the exhumation in the first place.
