Only good picture I could find, for some reason the homophobic bigots facebook page doesn't have many large photos yet. There was no congestion this time from buses taking over Caracas like there was for Chavez. I think they're playing it safe, no aerial footage that I can find as of yet, I'll keep looking.

Chavez shut down Caracas. Like, completely. I don't see any news of that happening this time around.
So, in short, yeah. I could be wrong but last time the photos were everywhere. Maybe give it a few more hours before saying for sure. If they bussed people in like last time maybe it was more organized and there was no congestion due to it, that's a very good possibility.

(7,362 posts)Venezuela is going to collapse next year no matter who wins. Let it fall on the Chavistas.

(62,265 posts)Capriles can't win this thing, I'm not in the bubble like last time, while Capriles' internet presence is massive (and the main contributor to my being in the bubble last time), Maduro dominates the campaign war. The internet doesn't tell the whole story there.
I expect Maduro to start implementing privatization reforms soon though, that interview where he talked about turning nationalizations back to the private sector was telling, but no one else here seemed to pick up on it. So I don't think that Venezuela necessarily is going to collapse under Maduro.

(3,317 posts)Globovision took the trouble to scout the streets for congestions and buses and found many of them, presumably trying to show that the estimated 3 million participants were not all residents of Caracas, instead of live pictures from the rally.
The right-wing TV channel Venevision, though, famous for cheering on and helping the 2002 coup attempt, are making fools of themselves by speaking of "hundreds of followers of the presidential candidate, Nicolás Maduro," today ...

(62,265 posts)There was literally a shutdown of Caracas from buses. I posted pictures of it. It was actually quite remarkable.
