Poll: Obamas approval rating hits an 18-month high, is back over 50 percent
[img][/img]
President Barack Obama held a Town Hall at McKinley High School in Baton Rouge today
MOre pics.. I just chose that one.. http://theobamadiary.com/2016/01/14/the-presidents-day-81/
The movement in his ratings which we would emphasize has not yet been verified in other public polls has been slight on a month-to-month basis. But his ratings have moved in a positive direction in two consecutive Post-ABC surveys. In May and July, Obama's ratings were more negative than positive, with 45 percent to 46 percent approving and 50 percent disapproving of his performance. That tipped the other way in September, to 49 percent approval and 46 percent disapproval. And that slight shift has continued in the latest survey.

This is Amazing considering all the cyberwaves and airwaves pushing ODS from the rabid rw and the other end of the spectrum biting at his heels.

And I believe President Obama's approval numbers are higher, but they keep oversampling Republicans, and they keep bringing those numbers down since NO Republican likes President Obama. I would like to think it's because of his policies, but with the rise of tRump's numbers in the polls, it's difficult to continue believing that.
That said - over 50% is wonderful!

(16,159 posts)Because it's gone through the long-term effort of courting constituencies and electing candidates.
I had an eye-opening experience in 2000. I attended the Nader Superrally in Chicago, where I saw an audience as lily-white as at a Blackhawks hockey game or an R.E.M. concert. Later I attended a Democratic Women's rally where women elected officials, white, Hispanic, and Black spoke to an audience equally diverse. That made a huge impression on me. Building a living, breathing political coalition is hard work and I respect those, like the Clintons, who have shown up and done the legwork.
Cha
(296,893 posts)a diverse coalition is gathering more and more momentum. .. and so is President Obama's. I know he's going to be out there campaigning hard for her when the time comes.
Amimnoch
(4,558 posts)and one who, since the 70's only has experience in the second smallest state (population wise), and the 2nd most homogenous state in the country.
Really? They tout Sanders as being a leader in civil rights, when for the last 36 years he's lived exclusively in, and his only experience come from being a legislator for a state that has a 95% white population (only 1.2% black/African American).
Yes, I know, he did walk with MLK in the 60's. Extremely admirable, and it is definitely a great thing that he was a leader back then. However, since the late 70's he left behind the place he'd come from.. the place that DID have real cultural and racial diversity for Vermont. He has legislated for decades from a virtually all white tower of isolation. While there is nothing morally or socially wrong with that (Living in Vermont, and being a legislator from Vermont is perfectly respectable), qualified presidential material, and a "leader in civil rights" it does not make.
Cha
(296,893 posts)been out and about, all over our Country. Building precious coalitions of diversity for decades and standing up for women everywhere.. even in China!
Hillary has it in her heart and soul.. and just like the diversity of her supporters.. It shows in the issues that she holds dear. she has a whole treasure trove of brilliant in depth plans that she and her team have created to keep America moving forward in a positive direction.
We just have to get her elected!

It's such a blessing that all the President's efforts are showing in his poll numbers.. and in spite of the US media goPropaganda machine.. he is popular with our Dems.
Yes, Hillary's coalition looks like Obama's coalition in diversity.. and between the two joining forces we will kick elephant all over the place.. oh, yes they will be trying everything in their power to cheat, lie, and steal.
But, Love, Truth, and Brilliance will Win Out.. :
