Meryl Streep Interview on Environmental Health Activism

Barbra Streisand.. a Democratic political activist for so long.. I remember when John McCain told her to keep to singing and leave the politics to them.
I was so mad back then(it was during the bush2 years) that I wanted to tell her how much I appreciated her.. She didn't have an email so I wrote her snail mail.. and she wrote me back.
She said the republicans couldn't handle the message so they tried to kill the messenger
Snip from Barbra Quote~
Everybody would watch I cant even imagine, Streisand said, though she expressed confidence Clinton would prevail: Im not worried about her.

A couple of snips//
Shaheen, a former three-term governor who remains popular in the state after winning a second senate term in November 2014, emphasized how much she trusts Clinton and touted her "tough as they come" strength.
"She will never back down on womens reproductive rights, and will never defund planned parenthood," Shaheen said earlier to loud cheers.

Speaking of New Hamphire~
With Hassans endorsement, Clinton has garnered the support of New Hampshires top three elected women. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen endorsed Clinton two weeks ago, and U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster is also on board.

(11,746 posts)I still find that creepy and not because of what Susan Sarandon said, but rather why she would feel the need to say it. It is insulting like being told we voted for President Obama because he's black.
Susan Sarandon voted for Ralph Nader. Did she do that because her vagina is a Democrat?

(796 posts)So I don't understand why some women who don't want to vote for Hillary (their right after all) have to make a point of dissing women who support Hillary with comments like this. It's almost like they are making preemptive strikes against attacks that aren't happening.
The reason you don't understand is because it doesn't make sense, for exactly the reasons you cite.
Funny how that works isn't it?

(42,278 posts)It has been my unfortunate experience/observation that we women tend to eat our own. It's the only thing that explains to me why any woman would vote R. And the contempt and outright hatred that some women have for strong women.

(16,159 posts)The phenomenon is known as "cool girl". "I'm cool, not like those other girls."
They don't want to be associated with women, because women are the sex class, other, not fully human.
I voted for Obama because 'white guilt'
And yeah, why a 'progressive' woman feels the need to belittle other woman for making an independent political decision, I will never understand. We complain about men objectifying us as female body parts, and then can't wait to do it to each other. It sucks that she did that. I hope the meme took her out of context, or something, because if it is legit, then pretty unforgivable.
But when someone shows you who they are pay attention

(3,825 posts)I was raised by two very strong parents who taught me to always think for myself, don't ever be afraid to try something you've never tried before, and do the right thing, even if it is the hardest thing you will ever do. My father taught me how to change a tire, change the oil in my VW, know what tools to use for what projects and gave me a very independent streak, which I'm sure has probably made me rather difficult to deal with at times, but I relish it now in my older years. My mother was a feminist before the word ever emerged into our vocabulary. Vote with my vagina.....what an ignorant and degrading thing to say. I refuse to submit to stereotypes. Women will change this world, and we will start by electing competent women to public office, not based on their sex, but the intelligence and world view that they hold. Bernie Sanders is a good man, but he is still a man, and it's time for a change, and I want to be part of that change. I helped elect a man to become our first President of color, and by God I will elect a woman to this office next. Their day is over, and like President Obama, Hillary has "0" fucks to give when it comes to being intimidated by this rolling train wreck of crazy called the Republican Party. She has my vote, and I have my vagina and one has nothing to do with the other.

All those DU posters who carelessly insult Hillary's Democratic supporters are too full of themselves. Some of them need to dial it back a notch -- learn to speak your piece and make your case on it's own merits. Your arguments that depend on insults are unseemly and unnecessary.
