STUDY: Very Few Businesses Plan To Drop Health Coverage Because Of Obamacare

Companies that have threatened to drop coverage of their employees as a result of Obamacare are vocal, but according to a new study they are also few and far between. Only a total one percent of businesses said they are not going to continue coverage in the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans survey. Another 2 percent said that they are “somewhat unlikely” to continue providing health care to their employees. Meanwhile, 69 percent will definitely cover employees, and 25 percent “very likely” will.

The results are encouraging primarily because they show businesses have growing confidence in Obamacare — last year, the survey showed that far fewer companies were certain to continue their health care plans. It also means business leaders are beginning to recognize the benefits providing employees with health coverage:

Offering health care does, indeed, aid recruitment and retention. And if three percent of companies chose not to do so while the rest do, they will likely suffer the consequences. Lacking health coverage also drives away some of the best employees, especially when, under Obamacare, those employees will then be forced to take on the cost burden of health care coverage themselves.

Thanks, Cha!

Lots of babysteps with Obamacare, she.. but, many more people are realizing how it can actually help them. From the 3rd Anniversary on March 22, 2013 of ThinkProgress..

On Obamacare’s Third Anniversary, Here Are Three Ways The Reform Law Has Helped Real Americans

HUGE WAYS..

1. Diabetic Arthur from California finally has health coverage after being uninsured for five years.

2. Connie from Arizona got a $79 rebate from her insurance company in the mail.
On Thursday, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that Obamacare has helped seniors save over $6 billion on their prescription drug costs by closing the so-called Medicare “donut hole” — and that’s not the only way that the law is already saving Americans money.

“..It was a surprise. My insurance agent tells me that my insurance is going to skyrocket. He hates Obamacare. I read the letter and I said to myself, ‘So what’s wrong with this? This is good.’”

3. Chronically ill Jen from Illinois doesn’t have to worry about losing access to her dad’s health insurance.

That is excellent news. And it knocks down another RW talking point. I love Obamacare! I've heard about health care reform my whole life and, finally, someone has done something about it!

snippet from the People'sView.. thinks it will be an important factor in the 2014 elections

ObamaCare is coming!

I have mentioned this here before, but I do not believe one can overstate the importance of ObamaCare as a factor in the 2014 elections. To be fair, those who have been following the news and those who have been affected know that a lot of the benefits of the Affordable Care Act are already positively impacting lives. Seniors are saving billions on prescription drugs, millions of young adults now have coverage, insurance companies can no longer drop you when you get sick, and lifetime limits have been banished.
