CO Democrats made a mistake getting Hickenlooper in the 2020 US Senate Race and were better off-
Endorsing former state senator and 2018 Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Mike Johnston.
Johnston served 2 terms in the CO State Senate and ran for CO Governor in 2018 and finished in a strong 3rd place in the Democratic Primary against 2 high profiled Democratic candidates- Jared Polis and Cary Kennedy. A primary contest between Johnston and Romanoff would have been interesting to watch.
Johnston and Romanoff were both from the Generation X, served in the CO State legislature- Johnston- state senate, Romanoff- state house. Both of them ran for statewide office but lost in the Democratic Primary- Johnston- 2018 Governor, Romanoff- 2010 US Senate.
