"Where'd Microsoft put THAT option?" It's in GodMode, for Windows Vista, 7, and 8

This may cause Windows Vista 64-bit to crash. It works fine on Vista 32bit, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

1. Create a new folder on your desktop.

2. Rename that new folder exactly as follows, including the brackets:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

3. Open the folder. This is your brand-new go-to place for configuring Windows.

Do not do this if you're running a 64-bit version of Vista. Pab Sungenis Apr 2013 #1

It has a tendency to screw things up, and since it's an undocumented back door, Microsoft is in no hurry to fix it.

ETA: Seems to work in 7 and 8.

Apparently you have to open a prompt and fiddle there around to fix it. Not quite a crash, but less than fun if unexpected.

The bug existed in Vista 64, but seems to be working in 7 and 8 from what I've seen now. Will go edit.

One wonders why MS doesn't do things like this themselves

NOT the Documents folder; my understanding is it's Not A Thing To Do and I won't try it on a whim to find out.

You can partition disks from that folder now. "Mischief" doesn't describe the havoc...

Plus, half the settings are disabled by the system admin anyway. I can't even change my screen resolution

Do they at least let you change the font and icon size? Or is all that locked away in a safe, too?

But NOT in the application that we actually support. Its icons and text are now so tiny, we can barely read it. We are all squinting over here
