Thank you Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic for standing up for checks and balances in the legislative

process.... And for her fight for to keep govt. public:

The smear attacks against Dimitrijevic quickly took on a sexist tone to them.

Abele's spokesman, Brendan Conway, referred to Dimitrijevic as a "mean girl," alluding to the movie of the same name. Abele dismissed calls for an apology, saying that the complaints of the supervisors was nothing more than a "distraction."

Abele had also personally attacked Dimitrijevic by accusing her of only being worried about having her salary cut in half. To make it worse, he did this on Equal Pay Day, the day that for pointing out the disparity between men and women doing the same job. It is also very egregious giving that Abele makes a six figure salary, is a multimillionaire for no other reason than being born into a wealthy family, and gave his cronies, er, staff members extravagant raises.

The latest of the sexist and misogynistic attacks against Dimitrijevic came on Friday from radio squawker Mark Belling - infamous for referring to Latinos as "wetbacks" - who called Dimitrijevic a bitch (about the 20 minute mark, near the end):

... IMHO, the R's are dismantling democracy in Milwaukee as a means to disenfranchise voters there. Wait and see if Milwaukee's new corporate-appointed masters don't make voting impossible for many residents.

But then, David Clarke also runs as a Democrat. As we have Lt. Chris Moews again taking up the primary challenge to Clarke in 2014, we should have someone to primary Abele by 2016 (so far away).

Edit to add: We should have suspected something when no Republican ran against Abele in the April 2012 election.

after Scott Walker....

"Chris Abele has won the race for Milwaukee County Executive, defeating Republican Jeff Stone handily on Tuesday. The position was previously held by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R), whose controversial anti-union law has sharply divided the state.

Abele won more than 60% of the vote.

Abele used the recent controversy surrounding Walker to build support for his campaign. The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reports that "he [Abele] put much of his advertising firepower into trying to fuse Stone with Gov. Scott Walker and his controversial push to end most collective bargaining for public employees."

WISN in Milwaukee reports that Abele only recently came into prominence, explaining that he "was fairly unknown until about four months ago except in philanthropic circles."
