May Special Election 7th Congressional District

It is reported that Governor Evers is "taking a look" at postponing the Special Election to pick the successor to Sean Duffy. I can understand why he wants to after all the trouble with the April 7 election.

Generally, I would be in favor of postponing it. What's crazy about this election is that it was delayed so long that the winner of the May election would have to turn around and start campaigning for re-election in November. So putting it off until the General election in November makes some sense. The people of the 7th CD haven't had a voice in congress since Duffy retired/resigned but you could also argue that they weren't truly represented while Duffy was in office.

But there's something else to consider.

What if Evers used the May election as an experiment in all mail-in voting or maybe even "drive-in" voting? It could be used as a test for the November elections where we could find the glitches and correct them before November. This might assure a higher percentage of participation in both the May and November elections.

Just a thought.....

1. We didn't have a voice when Duffy was in office either.

He only listens to checks for his war chest. He had paper constituents.

It's always the same ad--him log rolling while talking, and adding a new offspring to the horde.

4. Test a mail only election with the 7th

This would be a great test for a mail only election. Not only a federal election, but a test of how well the USPS can deliver it. I worked with direct mailings, in my career and all I knew and still know, as friends, have every confidence that they can safely and effectively handle a mail only election for the 7th. The population is 710,000 people, of which maybe 500,000 are voting age?

Most of the issues with mail ballots occur within the county & municipal clerk's offices. Not the Post Office.

This race is heavily favored to GOPs, with a R+7 rating, thanks to the horrific gerrymandering that the state's GOPer's entrapped the state's population under. We live in 8 Congressionally bound oppressive districts.

On April 7, 2020 Wisconsin voters put the GOP on notice with strong winds of change. The NRA has lost it's paranoid grip on Wisconsin, as has the hate filled conservative mantra that immigrants are gonna get ya. Well, Trump got ya, right by the short hairs on a teeny tiny handed virus and no plan to save the economy afterwards.

The Special Election for the Wisconsin Congressional 7th District is another major step, voters in Wisconsin can take to fight gerrymandering and scare the hell out of every Republican in America, with a simple postage paid envelope.

Now I need to contact the governor's office or my "friendly" local Republican Assemblyman (who just happens to be chairman of RAAC...Republican Assembly Action Committee) ...we need to push this experimental idea as hard as we can!
