Waco explosion: Rick Perry seeks help from FEMA, which he tried to axe

Texas governor Rick Perry has asked FEMA for help in the aftermath of the Waco fertilizer plant explosion, seeking assistance from the same government agency he recently claimed he wanted to dismantle. When Perry ran for United States President in 2012, he listed off a number of federal agencies which would be on the chopping block if he were to reach the Oval Office. FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, would have been the subject of Perry’s axe along with the U.S. Department of Education and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Perry failed to secure the 2012 republican nomination for President, with Mitt Romney scoring the nomination instead. Romney also gave the thumbs-down on FEMA, which ended up hurting him in the election when Hurricane Sandy struck New York and New Jersey, with FEMA playing a key role in aftermath assistance. New Jersey governor Chris Christie, also a republican, had been a vocal supporter of Romney but ended up working with Obama and FEMA after the storm. If Rick Perry runs for president again in 2016, he may now have to explain to voters why he asked for federal funds from FEMA this week if he plans to run again on his campaign premise of axing the agency among others.

The Waco Explosion killed fourteen fertilizer plant employees and left the city under a cloud of toxic smoke as the resulting fire burned for an extended period. Perry’s state level deregulatory practices may also be called into question amid reports of insufficient safety and fire hazard precautions at the plant.

The have a problem with others getting something they are not. It is all stemmed in selfishness.

The minute the need it, it is a completely different story. They will revert to the anti assistance once they have theirs.

This includes FEMA, Food Stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security etc.

for not sending FEMA funds fast enough for Texas fires at the same time as campaigning for president. He was also very rude to Obama when he came to survey the fire damage. This occurred a few weeks before the oops debate.

Perry is the ultimate hypocrite.

He took the stimulus money and "balanced" his budget and bragged how he had a balanced budget
He don't like spending, this was not an act of God so let the fertilize company cough up the money.
