Man jailed after refusing to pay for sandwich

Antonio Singleton, 20, remained in McLennan County Jail Sunday on a charge of robbery for failing to pay enough for a sandwich.

Waco Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Singleton ordered a sandwich at the Subway at 3350 Bosque Blvd. Saturday evening and “only gave the clerk a very small amount of change.” The suspect started to leave the store with the sandwich, and the clerk tried to keep him from leaving with it.

Jail officials said Singleton’s bond is $30,000.

$30,000 bond for a sandwich. You have to be kidding me. Oh, I forgot this is Texas! I wonder how much bond the owner of the fertilizer store in West is out on?

the loaf of bread alone should have gotten him life!

The manager could have let him keep it and wrote it off as spoilage.

What a fucked up society we live in.
