Perry, backer of GOP causes and Houston builder, dies at 80

Houston homebuilder, philanthropist and major political contributor Bobby Jack Perry died Saturday night at his Nassau Bay home. He was 80.

"He's one of the finest human beings I have ever known in life. A true patriot and inspiration," said spokesman Anthony Holm, who worked with Perry for a decade.

Perry was best known for his top contributions to primarily conservative candidates and political action committees within the last decade.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner, a friend of Perry's, said he felt privileged to know the man outside his role as political moneymaker and was shocked to learn of his death.

over some of the shoddy construction in the houses he built. He provided the seed money for the Swiftboaters in 2004 and donated large sums of money to every fascist cause he could find.

Philanthropist, my flabby blue butt.

No doubt the pursed lips crowd will call this a tacky post. However, the world always seems like a lighter and more positive place every time one of the Old Guard dies off. I didn't honor them in life and I refuse to believe that death deodorized them.

Now attributed to Clarence Darrow, not Mark Twain.
