Texas legislature considers making switchblades legal

Carrying a switchblade in Texas could become legal if House Bill 1862 manages to get passed during this legislative session.

Switchblades were outlawed in the USA Switchblade Act of 1958. At the time, switchblades were associated with gangsters, thugs and other low-life criminals. Hollywood movies, like James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause, put switchblades in a negative light.

Currently, switchblades are in the same legal category as machine guns.

Houston Democratic Rep. Harold Dutton authored the bill. Dutton told the AP that he plans to use the bill to open a larger debate about gun control.

If there is no restriction on guns, why have restrictions on knives? Or brass knuckles or any other arms.

The Constitution does not specify guns or define "arms."

having grenades, bazookas and automatic rifles. We can't infringe on those second amendment rights after all.

I also didn't mean to insult you by comparing you to a right-winger.
