I'd also like to thank you for locking that other thread, Lithos.

I would like to point out a few unpleasant facts to would-be Texas-bashers. As utterly appalling as our right-wing politicians and their antics are, they are not alone. Their actions are being echoed and co-ordinated by Tea Party activists and right-wing groups like ALEC. Don't believe me? Look at the so-called voter ID laws, the stuff coming out from the anti-abortion movement, and plans to snuff out minority studies.

Another unpleasant facts. A lot of the people pushing the appalling right-wing agendas come from other, often progressive, places. Arizona's "Sheriff Joe" comes from Springfield, MA. Arizona's Jan Brewer is a California transplant, as is former governor George Allen of Virginia. Our own dear Tea-senator Ted Cruz was born in the bosom of the Canadian welfare state in Alberta, Canada.

Texas-bashers may wish to check whether they live in glass houses before chucking stones in our direction.
