Houston DA protected by 24-hour security
Harris County District Attorney Mike Anderson and his family have been assigned round-the-clock security in the wake of the brutal shooting of Kaufman County's elected district attorney and his wife this weekend.
"Mike has accepted additional security offered by Sheriff Garcia, just in case there are any immediate threats in Harris County," said Sara Marie Kinney, a spokeswoman for the office.
Kinney said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia reached out to Anderson hours after the shooting Saturday and said the security detail will stay in place until as long as there's "a heightened sense of alert."
Kinney said Anderson and the 240 assistant district attorneys are generally protected while at work.
