Politicians have likened the fight against the deadly coronavirus to a war, a description designed to rally Americans against a common, unseen foe.
But after eight weeks of intensely fighting COVID-19, the so-called war is being highlighted by partisan rancor thats obscuring the ultimate goal: defeating the virus and making the country better than ever.
The seeping partisanship in our national and local COVID-19 struggle is threatening the ability of our leaders to rally residents around a singular cause.
Theres no clarion call to action, said former Houston council member and former 2020 Senate candidate Amanda Edwards. This fight is being compared to war, but youre not seeing that kind of focus.
