Dallas County closes first full week of May with highest 7-day increase in coronavirus cases to date
Dallas County reported 250 new positive COVID-19 cases and eight more deaths Saturday, closing out the first full week of May with its most cases reported in a week to date.
The deaths include three residents of long-term care facilities: two Dallas men in their 60s and 80s and a Richardson woman in her 80s.
The other victims were a Dallas man in his 50s, a Cockrell Hill man in his 50s, a Balch Springs woman in her 70s, a Farmers Branch woman in her 80s, and a Garland man in his 30s who was found dead in his home.
The county has recorded 5,619 cases of the virus and 143 deaths. Over one-third of deaths have been associated with long-term care facilities, county health officials said.
