Anyone know how unemployment works in NC?

Specifically the COVID-related PAU for 1099 people? I filed months ago and it has been approved but been in pending status for about six weeks. Evidently they are waiting for the employer to verify things; employer says she has tried calling a few times (she doesn't have an online acct, they've never had to deal with it) and waited hours, to no avail. I know she won't try again and don't want to antagonize her. My claim is for reduced hours, not complete unemployment. I'm wondering if they just leave claims hanging in limbo forever or if they'll follow up with her again. I've sent information via fax and uploaded a doc saying that she has been trying to reach them and gave more contact info for her. Just wondering how much effort they invest in trying to reach employers, some of whom may not be in business at all any more, so I wonder how those employees are faring when reaching employers is a problem.

Thanks.

The system was way underfunded by Republican General Assembly the last 18years, and was nowhere close to being prepared for this time. Plus, they were inundated with thousands of scam applications early on. They are patching it together, but, are waaaay behind. You have to continue to be patient....it’s the only thing you can do.

Do you think they'll try multiple times to reach the employer?

Since the pace is starting to pick up again, I may not need to keep filing - is that a problem? Will they still cover the weeks in question from the last few months, in your opinion?

Being paycheck to paycheck sucks and those arrears would be a lifesaver.

Mine took almost 3months to come through.

Don’t know what happens if they can’t connect with employer. Perhaps they use last year’s reported income records filed with state.
