Eleven mezuzahs were burned at 85 Taylor St. on Monday and one on Clymer St. on Tuesday.Rubin Ublies, 35, was apprehended by the NYPDs Hate Crimes Task Force, who tracked him down to a gal pals Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment about 8 a.m., sources said.
Ublies is suspected of burning 11 mezuzahs at 85 Taylor St. at the Taylor-Wythe Houses on Monday and igniting one at a nearby building on Tuesday. He was being questioned at the 81st Precinct stationhouse on Ralph Ave. Wednesday afternoon.

Creepy looking guy--he could have burned the place down.
Hate crime. Hope he has a meaningful sentence that educates him in appreciating religious tolerance. He needs a lesson that does not increase his bigotry but lessens it. I hope he learns something. And if he is too ignorant to understand and be sorry for his actions he needs to be kept where he can't ever do this to anyone again. Can these type be rehabilitated?

(135,425 posts)But he was arrested wearing the same goofy halfassed jacket he had on in the surveillance video, so I'm thinking that is a non-starter.
Yeah, they got video of him going into at least one building. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer...!

(19,288 posts)And a criminal. I do not like the targeting of a group like that. It shows a real disordered thought process. Seems like lifelong history of sociopathic behavior. He hadn't learned. Probably won't or can't. I'm glad something didn't catch fire. He endangered innocent people. That is not well thought out for consequences. He's a danger to others.
