Albuquerque, NM - Today, Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III announced the Sheriff’s Office will partnering with local businesses, nonprofits, and social services to help fulfill some of the basic needs of those who are unable to access the items or services that they require due to quarantine, mobility issues, or lack of public transportation. Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III has established a hotline for people to call to request basic necessities such as toiletries, bottled water, bread, milk, and/or similar products. This resource is intended for those in dire need who have exhausted all other means of obtaining these rudimentary necessities. The collaborative effort is a community endeavor and will do its best to help those who have genuine need of these items or social services.
“During a pandemic such as COVID-19, we recognize that service is of the utmost importance, and in a compassionate community, the needs of all the people must be recognized and met,” said Sheriff Gonzales. “The well-being of each community member is a priority. Simply stated, in a compassionate community, people are motivated by empathy to take responsibility and care for one another. A community where compassion is fully alive has the ability to thrive and be resilient. It is a community whose members are moved by empathy to take compassionate action and are able to confront crises with innovative solutions. Our community is resilient enough to bounce back from natural and man-made disasters such as COVID-19. I want to thank all of our partners for partnering with BCSO so we can care for our children, families, and seniors.”
