Anyone interested in helping host this group?

I'm still here but my workload has picked up. I'm working a full time job, a part time job, trying to take a class and am raising a kid-alone. I check in when I can but I do need a bit of help around here, if only to make it lively. I can't always check in every day with that kind of schedule but will keep checking back regularly.

If anyone's interested please leave a reply here. I'd prefer it be someone who actually lives in Missouri. Thanks!

and I will give it some thought. I am from MO, so I fit that criteria.

to see if what's posted is relevant or, at the very least, not spam. Be open to the possibility of the occasional pm in ref to this group, usually someone asking about the relevance of a topic or possibly someone complaining about something someone else posted. (That happens more in my other group but I do have help there!) Locking threads when needed, (you can give an explanation if you'd like, on the thread or in a pm to the party/parties involved or send me the info-I don't mind getting my hands dirty.)

Number one: if you read something interesting about Missouri, post it here. If it's already posted on DU, feel free to cross-post. Just mention the cross post. If you watch something interesting about Missouri, post about it. (I think you get the idea.) It doesn't need to be political in nature. IMO, it should be anything and everything about Missouri. For example: University of Central Missouri Fighting Mules football team played in a nationally televised game tonight. I would have accepted a thread about it. Mizzou looks pitiful in football-make a thread, if you like. Another example: visited the Truman Library-make a thread. Spent some time at the St Louis Zoo and want to share with everyone that it's a great place to visit-make a thread.

Politics are nice but our state isn't just politics. Let's make this group about more. Post about the news and politics but also posts about all the great places to stay, to visit, to explore, even to eat here in Missouri. And get others to post here too!

which is for my workplace (a grocery store), so this doesn't seem to be too much of a stretch. I post there each day, both to create activity & monitor the page. That naturally is concentrated on things food first and I do some about town or state things as well as I find them. Along the way there I have been posting 150th anniversaries of Civil War actions within the State as it was highly contested and I believe folks should know that. If you are okay with adding those to the mix, I am up to give it a try. I can do links to the Explore St. Louis (StlCVC's) page for some activities as well. I sometimes do post in GD some local stuff as I think it might be of interest.

So let me know.

Check through this group now-you'll find that you now hold "super powers". Thanks for the help-it's really needed.

As to Civil War-I wish I'd known about it earlier! I'm heading to Arrow Rock in about an hour. They are having an event today and tomorrow. If you're in St Louis it's too late for today but maybe tomorrow might be feasible, depending on how far you're willing to drive in a day.

looks like we are good to go. I will have to skip the Arrow Rock events as I work weekends, but thanks for the information. I will look into visiting there in the future.

It was a fun time-my daughter enjoyed herself.

Non Civil War event coming up in Warsaw is Heritage Days, Oct 13-15. It's more pioneer type activities, with lots of costumes and demonstrations. One of the better ones in my area is always Battle of the Hay Bales at the Anderson House in Lexington. I live within an easy drive and take regular trips up there. I think you'd enjoy that, especially the drive around the square and seeing where the cannon ball is still in the pillar in the courthouse.

We did a driving trip from StL to KC then north to St. Joe & back across 36 to Hannibal then down to St. Louis. It was fun.
