JEFFERSON CITY -- A Missouri senator wants to expand the kind of job-related misconduct that can disqualify people from receiving unemployment benefits.
Missouri law currently defines employee misconduct as breaking an employers rules deliberately.
The bill by Republican Sen. Will Kraus, of Lees Summit, would include accidental violations unless the employee could prove ignorance of the rules existence.
The legislation would also broaden the definition of misconduct to include violations of an employers rules outside the workplace and on an employees own time.
Kraus bill, SB816, has been endorsed by a Senate committee and could be debated by the full chamber in the coming weeks.

And right-wing freaks are worried about socialism and communism? Why don't the try fascism on for size?

(29,658 posts)make an educated guess as to who drew up the legislation. Kraus is a real piece of crap who doesn't seem to give a darn about his actual constituents.
I notice the article has a lively discussion, with many comments about how the law. Most seem pretty upset about it and only a few seem to be in favor. A few were making comments about how Missouri shouldn't be an at-will state anymore if this is what to expect.
