It's official: The St. Louis Rams want to move to Los Angeles

After months of speculation, intrigue and public policy contortions, the St. Louis Rams have officially filed to move to the Los Angeles area.

It’s been nearly a year since St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke revealed plans to build a new stadium in Inglewood, Calif., primarily with private dollars. And even though St. Louis and Missouri policymakers put forth a plan to build a new stadium on St. Louis’ riverfront, the Rams were one of three NFL teams that filed the paperwork on Monday to relocate to LA.

In a brief unsigned statement on the team’s website, the Rams declared: “The St. Louis Rams informed the National Football League today that the Rams propose to relocate to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The relocation would be effective for the 2016 NFL League Year.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed that the Rams, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers had applied for relocation.

As far as I am concerned they could have left yesterday and the world (or at least this part of it) would be a better place.

put the taxpayers of St. Louis on the hook for millions of dollars for a new stadium here. The old one isn't even paid for yet. Let the miserable SOB pay for his own goddamn stadium. It's not like St. Louis has gobs of money laying around for this crap. And the price for the new extravaganza keeps going up as they always do and you can bet the contracts are written so the taxpayers once again will be on the hook for overruns and not the rich owners or contractors. Kroenke has never shown the slightest interest in St. Louis, never ever gives interviews to the media, just puts on his sunglasses and just walks away with his toadies ignoring the peasants. He impresses me as one arrogant bastard.

The Rams organization never struck me as being a home team.
When the NFL let the Cardinals move, I refused to go to another NFL game. EVER.

Fuck 'em.

As a Missourian, I wonder can I claim a deduction for the stadium tax?
